First Mutual Properties identified 70 First Lake Drive as an under utilized commercial property. As a former enclosed mall, the property had been converted to a commercial call centre and warehouse space for DND when First Mutual Properties acquired the property.
Recognizing the change in demographics in the area, FMP determined that the additional of a retail use was beneficial and desirable to complement the residential growth of Lower Sackville and the area surrounding the property.
First Lake Community Plaza
FMP presented the opportunity to a national food store as an opportunity to service the growing residential market in the area and were successful in securing a 53,000 square foot retail addition to the property as well as develop a 4,000 square foot retail pad.
First Lake Community Plaza is the classic definition of a neighbourhood commercial plaza. The neighbouring properties include a Splash Pad, Kinsmen Community Centre, Arena, Bingo Hall, Canoe Club, Metropolitan Sports Complex, 3.3 Km walking trails around First Lake, schools, Eddie LeBlanc Memorial Ball Park, Sackville Lakes Provincial Park and a mature residential neighbourhood. With First Lake Community Plaza adding Sobeys, NSLC, Tim Hortons and Staples Call Centre which employs over 800 people.
